Our Foreshore Litter Picks are among our most popular volunteer activities. There's something a bit daring and exciting about stepping over the sea wall and onto the foreshore of the River Medway to collect and responsibly dispose of flotsam and jetsam, though of course this activity is carefully planned and risk assessed to ensure safety. It's not even that wet! Read on to find out more about this fun volunteering opportunity.
When do they happen?
We try to arrange a Foreshore Litter Pick every few months, based on when the tidal conditions are most appropriate. This means finding a Saturday when the tide is low at mid-morning, and preferably on a falling tide around Springs - when the tidal rise and fall is at its greatest extent, allowing us to safely access as much of the foreshore as possible.
