Voices of Unity: The Suffrage Sensory Garden and Medway Women in Politics

The hosts of the We Did It Medway podcast recording with FoRCE volunteer Natalie Poulton

The Suffrage Sensory Garden – and Natalie Poulton from the FoRCE – are both featuring in the very first episode of a brand-new podcast called We Did It Medway

We Did It Medway is a bright, quirky, and, described by the hosts ‘respectfully irreverent’ podcast, a fresh way to look at, and listen to, the culture, history and character of Medway. The presenters have been out and about meeting people who have great tales to tell, including the stories of Isaac Newell, who took football to Argentina, the Medway Queen – 100 this year and a true Dunkirk heroine – and the day Jimi Hendrix played Chatham.

In the Suffrage Sensory Garden episode, the hosts talked to Natalie about the inspiration for the garden she drew from local Suffragist leader Vera Conway Gordon, including some alfresco chat next to the garden. And then they interviewed both Kelly Tolhurst MP and her Labour challenger Lauren Edwards (also a FoRCE volunteer) about why, a century and more on, women in parliament are subjected to boorish, ignorant abuse from their male colleagues in the House, let alone online.
