Our volunteer mornings are a great way to get involved and make a difference, and this one is special - we'll be joined by our partners from the Friends of the River Medway as part of their annual pilgrimage from the source of the river to the sea. On this page, you'll find everything you need to know - there's no need to register, just turn up on the day. Please note that, due to the state of the tide, we will not be able to work on the river foreshore on this occasion.
We'll be meeting at Suffrage Sensory Garden, Esplanade Gardens, Rochester ME1 1QN
What to Expect
We're partnering with the Friends of the River Medway to collect litter from around Esplanade Gardens, and won't be gardening this week - our regular activites this month take place on Saturday 18th July and Tuesday 28th July.
Whether you’re a seasoned volunteer or trying it out for the first time, there’s a task for everyone.
What to Wear and Bring
Our sessions take place outdoors, so it’s important to come prepared for the weather and the work. Here are some general guidelines:
- Wear sturdy footwear and clothes you don’t mind getting dirty
- Dress appropriately for the weather, including waterproofs if it’s likely to rain
- In hot weather, bring sunscreen, a hat, and plenty of water to stay hydrated
- Children are welcome but must be accompanied by an adult
We provide all the tools and PPE you’ll need, such as litter pickers, hoops, bags, gloves, and safety glasses. If you have your own favourite gloves or tools, feel free to bring them along.
