Volunteer with us this Autumn

Autumn is one of the best times of year to get involved. Over the coming months there’ll be opportunities to help improve our parks and river:

  • planting more native hedgerow in Esplanade Gardens
  • adding shrubs and bulbs at Churchfields
  • clearing more of the paths
  • putting up new bird boxes
  • tending to the Suffrage Sensory Garden
  • litter picking across the green spaces and along the river foreshore

Whether you fancy a bit of light gardening and a chat, a good work out doing some digging, or a pleasant stroll whilst picking some litter, there are plenty of ways you can help out.

Volunteers maintaining the sensory garden

No experience is needed and all equipment is provided - just turn up for as long as you can give wearing suitable clothing. Children are welcome, accompanied by an adult.

Sessions run year-round, usually a Saturday morning, and last around two hours - a friendly way to spend time outdoors, meet people, and help look after this corner of Rochester. Our remaining 2026 events calendar is on our website and the full 2027 programme of dates is being finalised behind the scenes now and will be published soon.

You can find our activities calendar here.
